The Point Load Tester measures rock specimen strength in both field and lab settings. It features a load frame for applying loads up to 50kN, a mounted hydraulic ram, a 50kN capacity pancake load cell, and a digital indicator for peak load indication. The upper conical platen is mounted to the load cell, while the lower one is on the jack piston. A graduated scale, marked in both inches and millimeters, is attached to the side of the frame. The Point Load Tester also includes front and back clear covers over the testing area to protect the user from dispersed sample fragments during failure. The digital indicator can be read in kg, lb, kN, g, and ton, continuously monitoring the applied load. The unit is portable and accepts core specimens up to 4" (101.6mm) in diameter.
